What would it be like to be you?

I follow a lot of blogs and over time have come to realise that each blog has its own personality and character and I have often wondered what it would be like to live their life and see things through their eyes and their blogs.

Here we go.

I shall begin with Rumpy:  http://rumpydog.com/

Rumpy is one of my oldest blogging friends and a wonderful ambassador, educator and champion for dogs and cats.

You will know from reading his blog that he is a tireless advocate for change and justice.

I have learned so much from Rumpy’s blog and I am always inspired when I read his posts.

Rumpy’s blog runs a regular advice spot called Dear DeDe. This is my tribute:

Dear De

Oh Dog! It’s Sunday, so that means it’s time for another visit with Dear De!

And here I am with some more advice!!!!!

You may know me as the little person’s mom but I am also mom to a very large puppy called Bassa.

If you have a large dog you will know that it’s important that they get lots of exercise.

So what do you do when it’s cold or raining or snowing or you feel tired or your favorite program is on TV?

Easy. Delegate!

Appoint a bad weather walker and you never need get wet or cold or miss a favorite TV program ever again!

Hmm, it looks like rain. Tall person! Tall person! It’s time to take Bassa out!

You may know that the tall person is always taking pictures of me and the interesting things that we find in our neighborhood.

I follow a blog called Laurie Bartolo Photography – Where Dogs are in Focus: http://lauriebartolo.com/

Laurie specializes in spontaneous and candid photos of the dogs she encounters each day.

Laurie’s extraordinary photographs perfectly capture the character of dogs who stand on the porch or sit in the yard or in cars.

Wonderful pictures.

This is my tribute:

Tall Person’s Photography – Where Dogs are (usually) out of Focus.

Laurie recently posted a picture of two dogs in a car:

http://lauriebartolo.com/2012/02/23/sweater-weather/

Inspired by her excellent photograph, tall person took this photo of a little cheeky chappie we saw on our walk yesterday.

Okay, it is a candid and spontaneous shot but note the reflections on the car window that are obscuring the dog and, if you look carefully, you can see the tall person’s reflection!

Hmm, you have a lot to learn about photography tall person!

As you know, I am the only dog in my house and I have often wondered what it would be like to share my home and yard and life with other dogs.

One of my favorite blogs gives me wonderful insights into what life would be like with a houseful of pals that chase each other around the yard, snuggle up together at bedtime and live with a butcher!

Yes, it’s Collies of the Meadow!

http://colliesofthemeadow.wordpress.com/

Written by Chuck and packed full of great pictures, stories and reminiscences this blog shines with love and warmth.

This is my tribute.

Caucasians of the Meadow

If I were to share my home with other dogs I would like them to be Caucasian Shepherds.

There are a number of them in my neighborhood but there is one in particular that I know that I would have a lot of fun with.

Isn’t he lovely?

I can imagine myself running and playing in the forest with him and walking side by side in the neighborhood and snuggling up at bedtime.

Tall person – I want one!

And if we were Caucasians of the Meadow then tall person would be a butcher like Chuck and he would work here!

Mmm, cow meat!!

Thank you Rumpy, Laurie and Chuck for letting me be you – if only for a little while.

  1. What a wonderful post. Thank you for the satire of some of my favorite blogs. If we were Bassa’s Blog we would get to live in a neighborhood with white elephant trunks and silly telephone poles. That might be more fun then the boring same old yards we play in day after day after day. – Lulu

  2. What a wonderful post!!! First, we are so honored to be included and we truly hope you get another Caucasian to share your life with if that is what you want. Loved the picture of the butcher shop. 🙂 Beef happens to be our favorite meat too… 🙂 Your friend is indeed very beautiful. Thank you for your kind words about us. We used to take long adventurous walks like you do but it has been on hold for the last year or so since Trevor has grown feeble and the old guy does not have the heart to go without him knowing how he would feel to be left behind.

Tall Person’s photography is some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen.and we love seeing what Georgia is like. 🙂 Loved seeing Laurie’s and Rumpy’s blog through your eyes. Nice to see more about about De and had to laugh at her delegating.. hehehe…. It would be wonderful to have a De post for she is such a perfect part of your blog Bassa!

Great post! Again, we are very honored and humbled to be included…. thank you!

God Bless You Bassa, Tall Person, De and Little Person!

The rowdy collies and chuck the butcher who still has all his fingers… 🙂

    • I am very pleased that you liked it Chuck and I am relieved to hear that you still have all of your fingers! I will tell De of your lovely words, which I know she will appreciate.

  3. BOL BOL BOL! Bassa you sooo funny! This post is amazing! My most favorite blogger “Rumpy” is fabulous and through his blog, I could find your great blog, too!!! How lucky am I? and through your blog Bassa, I can find lots of wonderful blogs like you mentioned today, Laurie and Collies of the medow!!! Awesome, isn’t it?
I love your sense of humor, Bassa!
P.S. Yes, I can see the tall person on the car window! 🙂

  4. Hi Bassa and Tall Person! What a nice surprise to see my blog featured here alongside Rumpy and Chuck and the Collies, both favorites of mine! This was such a clever and fun idea for a post! And I think you did a fine job on the photo – my number one rule of photography is to always have your camera with you and number two is to always stop and take the shots you want to take – you do a great job of that every day on your blog! And I had no idea Chuck was a butcher – how did I miss that?! Thanks so much for featuring me here today – it was so fun to see Rumpy, me and Chuck through your eyes! 🙂

  5. Bassa, you have a great imagination. I can definitely see you giving advice like Dear DeDe or being a journalist like Rumpy when you run your BBC news. I think a house and yard full of Caucasian Shepherds like the Collies of the Meadow would be a sight! And I agree with Chuck… the tall person takes great photos. I love Laurie’s rules but I always break the first one… I never have my camera with me.

  6. This is such a great post, Bassa!!! What a lovely idea for a series and we loved reading your tributes! We follow all of the blogs you mentioned and enjoy reading them all 🙂

We can’t wait to read more from this series 🙂

  7. Bassa, you and your Tall Person are great mimics! These blogging impressions are spot-on! Thanks for the virtual visit to two of our favorite blogs, and an introduction to a new one.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  8. We didn’t know Chuck was a butcher! Mumma’s daddy was a butcher too. He’s in heaven (sad for us because we’re sure he would love us and give us bones always!). Funnily enough, both mumma and our aunty are now vegetarians – but we remember when mumma used to make great roast dinners. Bassa this was a fun post. Bella & Beary x
