The rules of this award are that you should share 7 facts about yourself and then pass the award on to 5 other blogs. I talked this over with the tall person and we decided that we will do a separate post to share the 7 facts. In the meantime, we are passing the One Lovely Blog Award to the following 5 blogger friends:

Louie the Husky

This blog follows the antics of Louie, a hyper husky living in a tropical world!

Louie has not been blogging for very long and has not posted since January.

I hope this award lets him know that we think his blog is great and we miss him and he should post more often!

Please drop by and say hi! http://louiethehusky.wordpress.com/

Congratulations to all the recipients of the One Lovely Blog Award!

I think I will have a nap now………

A family celebration!

The tall person told me that one of the best things about going away is coming home again and catching up with all the news. I couldn’t agree more!

We have spent the last couple of days catching up with all the news posted by our blogging friends. Some of it was happy news (Bongo’s Gotcha Day) and some of it was scary news (Chuck from Collies of the Meadow had a car crash) and some of it was very sad news (one of Chuck’s collies – Trevor – has had a stroke).

Being part of a blogging community means that we are part of an extended family that shares the ups and downs and happy times and sad times.

We also have occasions where we show how much we value and celebrate the creativity and uniqueness of other blogs and it is always a great pleasure to hear that the blogs that we follow and love to read are acknowledged by others that read them.

My good friends at Misty Shores Chesapeakes blog were recently awarded the One Lovely Blog Award. Isn’t it wonderful!

I was thrilled to read that they have kindly passed it on to Bassa’s Blog.

Thank you Cheyenne, Maia, Riva, the Boys and Titan!

This is the link to their award post.

I am sure you will recognize some of the other recipients. Congratulations to you all!

My friend Sarah at Sezpets was recently awarded the Versatile Blogger Award (by Bassa’s Blog) and in her post acknowledging the award she included me in the list of blogs she was passing the award on to!

Sarah said that she was not sure if she was allowed to nominate the person who nominated her… but she was doing it anyway! I’m not sure either but it was a lovely gesture. Thank you Sarah at Sezpets!

For the Love of my Dogs blog also received the Versatile Blogger Award earlier this year. I was particularly thrilled to hear this because it is an amazing blog. It has everything! Please do visit if you have not already done so. The Dog Treats Interviews are fantastic – several of my friends have been interviewed, including Bongo from BongosDogBlog and Cupcake Petrillo.

For the Love of My Dogs passed on the award to many of my blogging friends and to me! Thank you!!

My wonderful feline friend, Jimmiechew, was awarded the Liebster Blog Award.

I love Jimmiechew’s blog – the photographs and stories about his daily antics always make me laugh.

Jimmiechew very kindly included Bassa’s Blog in his list of blogs that he passed the award on to. Thank you Jimmiechew!

At the end of last year Bassa’s Blog awarded the Kreativ Blogger Award to Cupcake at Cupcake Petrillo’s Blog.

Lovely Cupcake was kind enough to re-award it to Bassa’s Blog!

Cupcake is a rescue dog whose mom writes children’s stories. She has written a book called ‘Keep Your Ear on the Ball’.

Congratulations to all recipients of these awards! I will now sit with the tall person and draft a post to pass on these wonderful awards.

New Year honours!

Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, recently published her New Year’s Honours List for 2012.

This year’s list of extraordinary people includes a cricket commentator, a TV producer, a greyhound trainer and a Formula One racing driver. I searched the list but couldn’t find me.

I am beginning to suspect that Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, does not read Bassa’s Blog.

It’s a shame – that medal would have looked very nice on my collar. Oh well, there is always next year.

Anyway, my good friends at For The Love of My Dogs blog obviously spotted this oversight and decided to cheer me up by awarding Bassa’s Blog with the prestigious Versatile Blogger Award.

Thank you Deanna and the furry gang: Harley, Scarlett, Chelsea and Roory!

This is the link to their award post. I am sure you will recognize some of the other recipients.

Congratulations to you all!

http://loveofmydogs.com/2012/01/03/versatile-blogger-award/

The “rules” of this award are the following:

1. Thank and link to the person who awarded you.

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

3. Pass the award on to as many as 15 more blogging friends.

4. Contact those friends and congratulate them!

Hmm, seven random facts about me. Here goes:

I was born in the famous nursery at St. George’s Monastery of Tabakini in the Republic of Georgia where Georgian Orthodox priests have been breeding Caucasian Shepherd dogs since 1992.

I have an arrangement with my local butcher who saves the best bones for me.

I am a shepherd dog and I have a one-sheep-flock that has no sense of direction so is very dependent upon me. https://bassasblog.wordpress.com/2011/08/04/just-call-me-bo-peep/

I fought a bear once (a very small one).

I have been pecked on the nose by a crazy parrot (now sadly deceased).

I have climbed a mountain without oxygen. I don’t mean I held my breath all the way! You know what I mean.

I slobber a lot (I do mean a lot!).

Okay, those are the random facts. Now, I need to pass on the awards to blogger friends. I talked this over with the tall person and we agreed to each write a shortlist and then compare. Can you believe that we both chose the following blogger friends to make the awards to? Of you course you can, we both think alike!

Jodi Stone

Jodi writes about her life with her two dogs, Sampson and Delilah. On the 1 December her blog was one year old and in all that time she had posted every single day except one. She had a good excuse though – it was the day after her granddaughter was born and she was taking care of her grandson. Jodi is a natural writer and a great storyteller. I know you will enjoy her blog as much as I do.

Congratulations to my 5 blogger friends. You fully deserve these awards!

A season for giving and receiving

It is the season for giving and receiving and Bassa’s Blog has just received two early Christmas gifts!

My great blogging friends Chancy the Gardner and Bongo have both awarded my blog with the Kreativ Blogger Award.

Many of you will know Chancy and Bongo because they are legends in our dog blog world!

Thank you both for this fabulous and colorful award.

Check out Chancy’s and Bongo’s latest posts at:

http://chancythegardner.wordpress.com/ and http://bongodogblog.wordpress.com/

So, that is the receiving part – now to the giving! I need to pass on this award to 6 other blogs but first I am required to tell you 10 things about myself that you wouldn’t know.

In his award acceptance post, Bongo said that this is the difficult part as he, like me, tells everyone everything! So, I will follow Bongo’s approach and tell you 10 things that some of my newer friends might not know:

1. I was born in the famous nursery at St. George’s Monastery of Tabakini in the Republic of Georgia where Georgian Orthodox priests have been breeding Caucasian Shepherd dogs since 1992.

2. I like cake……mmmm, cake.

3. I am a shepherd dog and I have a one-sheep-flock that has no sense of direction and is very dependent upon me.

4. I fought a bear once (a very small one).

5. I have been pecked on the nose by a crazy parrot.

6. I have climbed a mountain without oxygen. I don’t mean I held my breath all the way! You know what I mean.

7. I slobber a lot. I do mean a lot!

8. My mentor is the tall person, a follically challenged Englishman who teaches me about the world and life.

9. I love thunder and lightning and rain.

10. I live on a mountain.

Okay, those are the 10, possibly unknown, facts. Now, I need to pass on this wonderful award to six blogger friends.

I talked this over with the tall person and we agreed to each write a shortlist and then compare.

Can you believe that we both chose the following blogger friends to make the awards to? Of you course you can, we both read each other’s minds!

Happy Bark Days blog documents the adventures of a red Toy Poodle called Little Miss Red Maple Leaf. Adopted at the age of 7 months Little Miss Red Maple Leaf lives with Momsy (aka SJ) and Popsy (aka MM). Her wonderful blog is colorful, packed with great pictures and always makes me smile!

Congratulations to my 6 Kreativ blogger friends.

Der zweite Liebster!

I have been catching up on reading the blogs that I follow and was very pleased to see so many of my blogging friends had received awards over the last few days. I had a lovely time writing my congratulations and saying that they deserve many more!

After I had read all of the latest posts, I turned my attention to my own blog to respond to comments made on my posts and KER-SPLOOSH! My new blogging friend Dante Alighieri (aka The Travelin’ Boy) had written to me to say that he had awarded me my second Liebster Blog Award! KAPOW!

Thank you Dante! For those of you who have not yet met Dante Alighieri, he is a four year old Malti-Poo who lives in Florida.

Dante told me that the Liebster Blog Award is intended to recognize worthy, lesser known blogs (with less than 200 followers) and to help expose their work. What a great idea!

You may know that Liebster is German word meaning dearest, so the Liebster Blog Award means Dearest Blog Award, which I think is very lovely.

Here is the link to Dante’s post about the Liebster Blog Awards:

http://thedantediaries.wordpress.com/2011/12/03/im-totally-barkless-really/

You may recognise several or all of the other award recipients. If not, do check them out.

The rules for the Liebster Award are:

1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.

2. Reveal your top five picks {with less than 200 readers} and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.

4. Hope that the people you’ve sent the award to forward it to their five favourite up-and-coming bloggers and keep it going!

Now, I need to pass on the awards to five blogger friends.

B0ng0 came from a dog-shelter in Bosnia at the age of 6 months to live with a new family in Austria and later moved with them to Germany. B0ng0 lives with one of my very special blogging friends Puzzle. Don’t be deterred by the predominately German text in the posts – it is sometimes in English and there is a facility for a googlish translation. It is a great blog with very lovely pictures.

This amazing blog is written by Amy Elizabeth who lives on the Tilden Bar None Ranch in Phoenix, Arizona. Jodi writes about her life with her two dogs, Sampson and Delilah. On the 1 December her blog was one year old and in all that time she had posted every single day except one. Congratulations to my 5 blogger friends. ZOWIE! You fully deserve this award!

P.S. You may have noticed some Batman terminology (original series) in this post. I was watching one episode on TV today and was very impressed with the visual effects! KER-PLOP!

Liebster

Several days ago my new blogging friend Dianda, who writes a blog called Cats & Co, surprised me in the nicest possible way by giving Bassas Blog a Liebster Blog Award.

I looked up the word Liebster and discovered it is a German word meaning dearest, so the Liebster Blog Award means Dearest Blog Award, which I think is very lovely.

Dianda told me that the Liebster Blog Award is intended to recognize worthy, lesser known blogs (with less than 200 followers) and to help expose their work. What a great idea!

I want to thank Dianda for thinking of me. Her blog about cats is great.
This is the link to her post about the Liebster Blog Awards:

You may recognise several or all of the other award recipients. Do check them out.

The rules for the Liebster Award are:

1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.

2. Reveal your top five picks {with less than 200 readers} and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.

3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.

Bumpy Road to Bubba. This is an absolutely beautiful blog about Poppy Grace, a baby girl born in January 2011. I highly recommend this blog. It is beautifully written and will make your heart sing!

Chancy the Gardner. Chancy is an absolutely adorable dog who had a difficult start in life but now lives happily with Mumsy and the rest of the crew. I think your blog is great Chancy and so does everyone!

http://chancythegardner.wordpress.com/

Moxie Dogs. Moxie and the Berner Girls, Tallulah and Maisy are new to blogging and have made quite a splash! I found them on Twitter – or did they find me? Anyway, they are very dear to me and thoroughly deserve the Liebster Blog Award.

http://moxiedogs.com/

Congratulations to my 5 blogger friends. You fully deserve this award!

A surprise party!

My great blogging friend Chuck and his Collies from Collies of the Meadow blog took me completely by surprise yesterday. I dropped by their blog to catch up on their latest news and was ambushed, in the nicest possible way! Chuck and his Collies had arranged a surprise blog award ceremony and Bassa’s Blog was one of the recipients.

I didn’t even have time to prepare a speech or even brush my hair!

Chuck and his Collies had decided to acknowledge the work of other bloggers by selecting their Best on the Net and awarding a Collie’s Choice Award.

I have now had time to recover my composure and prepare a brief acceptance speech.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you Chuck and the Collies!!”

I am especially delighted to receive this award from Collies of the Meadow because their heartfelt stories and their love and affection make their blog shine in a very rare and unique way. If you have not visited it before you are missing out on a rare treat!

I have included a link to the awards post and highly recommend that you visit the blogs of the other recipients of the Collie’s Choice Awards. They are great blogs and I can fully understand why they were chosen by the Collies.

Moments in time

My great blogging friend Just Ramblin’ Pier is a very talented photographer and her posts are always enriched with beautiful photos that perfectly capture moments in time that stay with you long after you have read her blog.

I visit her blog every day and this morning I read her latest post called ‘How do you share your moments?’ It talks about how moments are photographed by many creative and talented bloggers and woven into stories that are then shared with the world.

To acknowledge this photographic creativity Just Ramblin’ has designed the Creative Capture Blogging Award, an award for bloggers that “put their creative eye behind the lens and capture moments that are shared with the world.”

In her post, Just Ramblin’ lists the first recipients of this award and I was thrilled to see Bassasblog in the list.

Thank you very much Just Ramblin’. The tall person is my camera person and I know it can be quite challenging for him to take photos with one hand whilst holding on to my leash with the other. Tall person says “Thank you!”

I have included a link to Just Ramblin’ Pier’s post and I would highly recommend you drop by the blogs of the other recipients of the award and of course look at the amazing photography on Just Ramblin’ Pier’s blog.

They are all well worth a visit!

https://justramblinpier.wordpress.com/2011/11/14/how-do-you-share-your-moments/

I am doubly thrilled!

My blogging friend Nancy of ‘Tales from the Mom-Side’ blog has awarded Bassa’s Blog with the Versatile Blogger Award.

Wow, this is the second time that Bassa’s Blog has received this award and I am doubly thrilled. Thank you Nancy!

Nancy has also given this award to 16 other bloggers. I know some of the blogs but not all and I’m in the process of visiting the ones I haven’t seen before. It is always great to drop by blogs that other bloggers recommend. I always find some real treats.

This is the link to Nancy’s post in which she lists the blogs that she has given The Versatile Blogger Award to. Check them out and also take a look at Nancy’s other posts. Her take on life is witty, warm and very entertaining: http://workingmomadventures.com/2011/09/27/and-the-envelope-please/#comment-983

Thank you Nancy!
