Don’t lick the sidewalk!

On my walk through the neighborhood today I saw this on the sidewalk.

I was about to lick the delicious looking ice cream when the tall person stopped me and told me that it wasn’t real. He said that someone had painted it.

I was shocked. How many unsuspecting dogs and small children have fallen for this despicable trick and returned home with gritty tongues?

There should be a warning sign – ‘Don’t lick the sidewalk unless you are completely sure’.

The eggplant that lied

On my walk through the kitchen today I saw this strange sight.

The Pinocchio Eggplant

I pointed it out to the tall person and he said that it reminded him of Pinocchio, a fictional character created by the Italian writer Carlo Collodi, whose nose got bigger when he told lies.

Hmm. I wonder what an eggplant would lie about?

It’s a hoot!

On my walk through the neighborhood today I saw this strange face.

Pareidolia

I pointed it out to the tall person and he told me that during the Middle Ages shapes seen in natural objects were known as Lusus Naturae, or Jokes of Nature. It was the belief of medieval naturalists that Nature actually played jokes by purposefully placing shapes such as faces in objects for people to find.

Hmm. I wonder if that big-eyed owl knows he is a Joke of Nature?
