I need a bigger blog!

Tall person has been very busy undertaking reporting missions for his Georgia About blog but after this morning’s walk around the neighborhood we sat down to do some catch up on Bassa’s Blog.

It’s always great to hear that our blogging friends have received blogging awards and June was a bumper month for nominations. Fantastic!

Illuminating Blogger Award

My very good friends, Bella and DiDi at Paws to talk received a paw full of awards last month, including the Illuminating Blogger Award – all of the awards are richly deserved.

Congratulations Bella and DiDi and thank you for thinking of Bassa’s Blog when passing on this fabulous award!

Bella and DiDi are two black Standard Poodles and together they are the ‘agony aunts’ of the canine world.

Their sound advice has made them THE place to go if you have a problem. Standard Poodles aren’t called one of the smartest breeds in the world for nothing!

Readers Appreciation Award

Congratulations to Misaki at misadventuresofmisaki blog on receiving the Readers Appreciation Award and thank you very much for passing it to Bassa’s Blog.

We always appreciate reading your blog!

Misaki is an Alaskan Malamute puppy who enjoys eating bonios. I understand from reading her posts that the bonios are strictly rationed and have been hidden.

I’ll let you into a secret Misaki, the bonios are top of the freezer!

You can see from the picture that Misaki even has a bonio collar decoration – don’t try to eat that Misaki!

My favorite pot bellied pig (called Bacon) at Pig Love blog was also recently awarded the Readers Appreciation Award and kindly passed it on to Bassa’s Blog. Thank you Bacon!

I love Bacon but who doesn’t?

The tall person told me that pigs are highly social and intelligent animals and Bacon is no exception. He writes a weekly Dear Bacon column giving sound advice to other animals – it’s kind of like the reverse of casting pearls of wisdom before swine.

The Sunshine Award

Angel and Chaos at the House Full of Dogs blog were awarded the very colorful Sunshine Award and in their post acknowledging the award they included Bassa’s Blog in the list of blogs they were passing the award on to!

Thank you Angel and Chaos!

I think Angel and Chaos are two of the cutest dogs you will ever come across.

If you have not yet met them it is my very great pleasure to introduce you………………………

Angel is a 3 year old Pomeranian, born in the Philippines but now lives in Canada with Chaos, a 3 year old Chihuahua.

Susan at Long Life Cats and Dogs blog was also awarded the Sunshine Award and kindly passed it on to Bassa’s blog.

Congratulations and thank you! Long Life Cats and Dogs was set up in order to introduce people to the lives of animals in shelters.  It is a regular news feed and, hopefully, a future means of assisting with the generation of funding and food for the Pro-Life, No-Kill Animal Welfare Shelters in and around Gauteng (South Africa). This is the link to the award post:

Phoenix from Thriving Pessimist blog also received the Sunshine Award and included Bassa’s Blog in her nominations.

Congratulations and thank you Phoenix!

Phoenix has a quotation on her blog which I suppose sums up her approach to life, “The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised”.  ~George F. Will, The Leveling Wind.

I am sure you will have been very pleasantly surprised to receive the very lovely Sunshine Award!

One Lovely Blog Award

Dianda from the brilliant Cats & Co blog was awarded the One Lovely Blog Award and very kindly passed it on to Bassa’s Blog.

Congratulations Dianda and thank you!

This blog is the place to go to find out anything and everything about cats!

I have learned so many cat facts from Dianda’s posts.

I fact, my cat Barnaby now reads the posts! Well, I think he does – he is always sitting by the computer screen!

My Nominations

I would like to acknowledge several of the newer blogs that I am following. Some are lovely, some are inspirational and all are a great read!

The Sunshine Award

The Adventures of Little Miss Maple Leaf (Happy Bark Days) – This blog documents the life of a red Toy Poodle named Little Miss Red Maple Leaf who lives in Singapore. It has lovely photos and great stories and brings a dash of tropical sunshine whenever I visit.

http://happybarkdays.com/

Themisadventuresofmisaki – As mentioned earlier in this post, Misaki is an Alaskan Malamute puppy. Great pictures and a hilarious obsession with bonios!

The Versatile Blogger Award

Office Dog Blog – This blogger is versatile! Buddy is the Office Dog at Roots Human Resources CIC, the UK’s first and only HR consultancy trading as a social enterprise. He says that the CEO looks uncannily like his mom – I think he means his human mom. Anyway, I like the idea of a dog with an office job and Buddy’s posts always make me smile.

Tammyehoney – This blogger cooks on a 1 Star budget for 4 Star Results! Easy to follow recipes with step by step photos. Visit Tammyehoney and dine in tonite! http://tammyehoney.wordpress.com/

Readers Appreciation Award

Sorrygnat, World Citizen – Esther Bradley-DeTally is a writing teacher, creative process coach, author, community activist. She has written two books, Without A Net: A Sojourn in Russia, and You Carry the Heavy Stuff.

Her blog is an eclectic mix of subjects and themes and I always find something interesting to read there. You can find Esther at:  http://sorrygnat.wordpress.com/

Campfireshadows – For anyone interested in Old West short stories, this is the blog to visit. Go here for well written, exciting and authentic tales of the Old West. I highly recommend this blog! http://campfireshadows.wordpress.com/

One Lovely Blog Award

Onecoolgriff – Rambo is a griff who describes himself as one crazy happy dog!

His blog is packed full of funny stories and pictures of his crazy life with two other griffs (both girl griffs, lucky Rambo), a really old whatever kind of dog (his words!), a great Rottweiler named Atticus, cats (not real cats, like house cats, these are what the people call barn cats), and horses. http://onecoolgriff.wordpress.com/

And finally, I am not sure if it is entirely ethical because sometimes I think the tall person and me are one person but I want to make an award to my blogging mentor – the tall person – for his new blog, Georgia About.

I would like to pass on the Illuminating Blogger Award to thank him for lighting the way for me at Bassa’s Blog and for illuminating our beautiful country – Georgia – in his new blog.

Thank you tall person!

  3. aww shucks, tweren’t nuthin i did, foot kicks dust (inside the house) thanks; i had been going to nominate you Bassa but i saw your awards, and didn’t know if you wore them around your neck like tags, and was cautious of your wellbeing in the heat and all, you know – georgian heat? I am going to peruse softly all the blogs you recommended; animal blogs make my heart relax and go wider; which beats hips going wider; but somedays both compete; gratitude of the highest order to all our furry and person friends

  4. Congratulations on all your awards Bassa. Now I don’t feel quite so bad. My person has been hoarding my awards for months. She says some day she’ll catch up with all her other things and do an award post.

  6. Bassa, you are such an incredible inspiration!!! I want to be just like you when I get bigger- oh, yeah, guess I’m not gettin’ any bigger… But you are the best blogger of all time. And I thank you from the bottom of my little Griff heart for the award! I also, have to tell you that was a very classy move giving the “Illuminating Blogger Award” to the tall person. He is very deserving. The information he gives us on “Georgia About” is always fun to read!
p.s. Sorry it took so long to get back to you- Mom had a couple of tragic weeks with friends and family. She said she wasn’t up to watching me blog, and she was pretty sure I could not be left to my own devices. Hmmm… my reputation precedes me!

  7. Bassa, Thank you so much for the “One Lovely Blog” award. We’ve had a very trying month here at home and I’m just getting my on-line equilibrium back. I haven’t been able to comment, but I always check out your blog because you have some very astute observations. The tall person’s blog is wonderful, also. Your family lives in such an interesting place. It’s always a pleasure to read about it.
