I saw this mobile newspaper shop on my walk today and thought, ‘Gee Whiz, what a great idea’!
The tall person knew what I was thinking and as we watched the news pass us by he shared several news related quotations:
News is anything that makes a reader say, `Gee Whiz’!
Arthur MacEwen, American editor,
No one says “Gee Whiz!” very much these days, of course, not even in America — both because that expression has long since been supplanted by others more colourful and less printable, and because our capacity for surprise has long since been dulled by a surfeit of sources.
Shashi Tharoor, Indian writer and diplomat, b. 1956
Hmm, I am very pleased to report that my capacity for surprise has not been dulled by a surfeit of sources.
I think its great that there are a lot of things that still surprise you Bongo. It’s a shame that things in the world have gotten so blase that no one is surprised any longer. You show me things all the time that surprise me and I love it:)
Surprise surprise! A brilliant idea 😀 Like mobile ice cream trucks. Thanks Bongo for sharing. We don’t see mobile news stalls around here, just mostly mobile FOOD carts. 😀
Ha! Bassa, you’re so right, not many people say “gee whiz” but that certainly doesn’t mean there aren’t many things to say “gee whiz” about! Love your astute perspective. Would that we could have more innovative means of sharing the news these days, such as this mobile shop 🙂 And btw, I’m glad to see the sun is shining and you don’t have angry rain today!
It brings a new meaning to mibile news 🙂 No angry rain today, thank goodness.
Your neighborhood is FULL of surprises! I think Mom would be Gee Whizzing all over the place if she went there! When I say, “Woof. Woof.” I often mean, “Gee Whiz.” I mostly say it in a complaining way when Mom won’t let me sniff something or go someplace or eat something that I really want.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Hahahaha, Gee Whizzing all over the place – I love it! 🙂
Mobile news a great idea indeed, until it rains, nevertheless, a good idea.
She is clearly prepared as she has a big umbrella to cover ner news 🙂
I like the idea of a traveling newspaper, although it is certainly not as fast as the internet. 🙂
Wow! This is great. We wish she came by our house. 🙂

I’m more of a “Holy Cow!” person, but the message is pretty much the same. Loved your last line, by the way!
My brother-in-law says gee whiz… I make fun of him. lol!
We are almost over-run with carts selling this food or that here where I live. I haven’t seen anyone with a newspaper cart though. Maybe she should franchise!
I’m more inclined to say Cheez Whiz, a fake cheese treat.
Gee Whiz Bassa, you should have bought a paper! 🙂
What a great contraption to move the news. 🙂
