Whilst waiting with the little person for the school bus this morning I noticed one of my neighbors practising cricket in the street. I like ball games and was just about to go over and ask if I could play when the tall person told me that the lady is actually brushing the street and not playing ‘The Gentleman’s Game’.
Oh, so the other lady is not a right-arm leg spin bowler about to bowl her a ‘googly’?
In cricket, an appeal is the act of a player on the fielding team asking an umpire for a decision regarding whether a batsman is out or not. According to the Laws of Cricket, an appeal is a verbal query, usually in the form of, “How’s that?” to an umpire. Since the taking of a wicket is an important event in the game, members of the fielding team often shout this phrase with great enthusiasm, and it has transmuted into the slightly abbreviated form, “Howzat?“
Hey! I wanna play too!
Woof! We’d like to play, too! xo Berner Girls
That would be fun to play. We used to play ‘broom ball’ which is played with brooms and a small ball on ice! You wear your sneakers, it was such fun.
We realize that we know nothing of cricket. But any game with a ball is good!

Cricket? Another interesting post informing me of something I’ve never heard of! I love this blog… for just that reason.
🙂
You’d love cricket, Bassa! Anything with a ball in it, right?
Thanks for your sweet comment yesterday about Toby. We’ll sure miss him…he was my best friend for many years.
I do like chasing balls Sage. I know you miss Toby and you always will but he is part of you and will always be with you x
Cricket I never understand, but you always have the cleanest streets I have ever seen Bassa. If the wind doesn’t blow them clean most things stay there.
Umm, what is a “goggly”?
