Paint my picture mister!

You may remember that there is a small colony of artists at one end of Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi.

They sit at their easels surrounded by their colorful paintings of old Tbilisi and portraits of beautiful Georgian women in traditional dress.

They paint from memory or imagination as they cannot see any of the scenes they paint from their sidewalk studio.

Their pictures are displayed at the edge of the sidewalk and passers-by pause to admire and sometimes buy.

This artist has painted several pictures of Tbilisi in winter but I noticed he is working on a painting of a sunny scene, perhaps it helps to keep him warm because it is very cold today.

  1. Those pictures look very beautiful! They must be talented to paint! I’m interested how Georgian traditional dress look like!!! Must be very different ours “Kimono” !!! 🙂

  2. My person says she admires these painters because she always needs a photo or the real thing to paint from. She also says she likes to have warm fingers when she paints. I hope one of them paints you Bassa.

  3. This guy is a pretty good painter! What a vibrant city you live in.. So interesting to see all the people there making a living in so many interesting ways. Great Post!!! He should paint your picture Bassa! You would make a beautiful subject to paint!

    God Bless You!

  4. Interesting characters line the streets in Georgia, I see. Out of curiosity, would you happen to have a picture of women or a woman in traditional Georgian garb?
