It was raining when I woke up this morning and I immediately alerted the tall person and gave him the latest weather report. Rain, rain, rain. We both like walking in the rain and I knew he would want to get out there as much as I did.
One cup of coffee later and we set off into our watery neigborhood. Water was everywhere. We both looked at each other. Yes tall person, it is time to play the puddle hopping game. I like puddles and have devised a game to ensure that I visit as many puddles as I can. It’s a simple game. We have to tread in every puddle that we come across. The tall person calls it the puddle hopping game. We don’t physically hop but our route is determined by the distribution of puddles so we ‘hop’ from one to the other, if you know what I mean.
Our puddle ‘hopping’ took us to Eugene the jeep. I think Eugene likes the rain. For him it is the equivalent of a car wash and cleans away all of the dust and dirt that has stuck to him since it last rained.
We noticed that something was different about Eugene. Someone had painted the word ‘Metallica’ on his back. Eugene was a victim of graffiti.
The tall person told me that ‘Metallica’ are an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. He said that their fast tempos, instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship placed the band as one of the founding “big four” of thrash metal, alongside ‘Slayer’, ‘Megadeath’ and ‘Anthrax’. Hmm, perhaps it is a good thing that the graffiti person is not a fan of ‘Anthrax’ as I don’t think Eugene would like that written on his back.
Anyway, we both decided that Eugene is probably a fan of heavy metal as many of his friends would have been tanks and they are quite heavy.
Our puddle hopping eventually brought us home again and the tall person suggested that I sit on the balcony at the top of the front steps until I had dried off a little. He said that De might not fully appreciate the joys of puddle hopping, especially if I create puddles in the hallway and she has to hop over them! Okay tall person, I will sit here and make a puddle on the balcony.
I love you being wet, Bassa! glad you had fun doing the puddle hopping game!!! I always step a side if I notice of puddles, as I’m not good at having my paws wet. You look satisfied at it on the photo! OMD! That’s so funny the Eugene is a fan of heavy metal! Yes,it is very true that his friends would have been quite heavy tanks!!! * giggles* Woo!!! 🙂
How cool!!!
You should get your paws wet Kevin. It’s lovely!
Oh Dog! Only on your blog would I learn about metal heads in Tbilisi! I’m not much on getting wet either, but snow? Gimme some snow and I’m gonna roll in it!
🙂 I love snow! We had some earlier in the year and it was fantastic!
It doesn’t rain much where I live, but I love it. Everything smells more when it gets wet. I suppose that means I do, too. It rained here on Friday and my person told me I still have a hint of eau de skunk oil on my head from my last skunk battle almost two months ago.
Lola! You should never battle skunks! Have you not seen the Pepé Le Pew cartoons on TV? Steer clear of Pepé Le Pew – he will leave a smell on you! 🙂
Bassa, we desperately need some rain here. Can you try to send some our way? Wonderbutt would love to do some puddle jumping!
We have had a long. hot and very dry summer so it it nice to feel the rain again. Puddle hopping is great! 🙂
We don’t like walking in the rain. You sure are sweet to sit on the balcony and make a puddle there sweet Bassa…you are very thoughtful not to make puddles in the hallway. Hugs and nose kisses
You don’t like walking in the rain? You must try it – it unlocks the scents from everything 🙂
We had rain here yesterday. I think Lola sent it over from her house. I only had a couple puddles to hop in though. Most of it soaks into the ground right away.
Rain and snow means messy floors with our pups in and out of the house all day. But they’re worth it! 🙂
We had a little snow here today Barb but it didn’t settle. It has created a lot of mud though!
What a wonderful story! It reminds me of my first walk with Trevor in the rains… it was a sad moment but it is a cherished memory now. We do puddle jumping also and have a lot of fun doing it…. Great story! I love your blog, keep up the great work!
Thank you! It is good to remember things.
I love puddle hopping Bassa. I did it 2 years ago in the middle of a summer storm in New York with my sister (and we’re grown ups – but it’s still fun).
Never stop puddle hopping and you will always be young! 🙂
Hi Bassa. My dog Daisy and I like to jump in the puddles together – I credit her with saying that life is more fun if you jump in the puddles (she doesn’t actually talk, but I could tell this is what she was trying to say). I look forward to rainy days and puddles. I love the photo of you all wet! 🙂
Daisy is right Laurie, you should always try to make a big splash in life!! 🙂
