An Occasional Bark

It’s evening and it’s hot inside the house so I’m sitting on the balcony with the tall person. He is drinking a beer. The street outside our yard is noisy with the sound of children playing and laughing. Their protective mothers and grandmothers sit on a low wall, watching them and chatting. The air is cool. It is a peaceful time but I can’t resist the occasional bark to remind everyone that I am here.
