Blue-eyed crocodile eats gas pipe!

On my walk through the neighborhood today I saw this.

Yes, a blue-eyed crocodile about to eat a gas pipe.

I pointed it out to the tall person and he smiled and said that it reminded him of something that Steve Irwin, the famous Australian wildlife expert, once said about crocodiles, “There are 23 species. Seventeen of those species are rare or endangered. They’re on the way out, no matter what anyone does or says, you know”.

Hmm. I’m not surprised they are endangered if they insist upon eating gas pipes.

Somebody stole my street!

On my walk through the neighborhood today I found this.

Yes. Someone has stolen my street! I pointed it out to the tall person and he said that perhaps road builders from another neighborhood had run out of road and needed part of ours.

Hmm. I understand that it is sometimes necessary to borrow things but I think this approach to road construction is unsustainable in the longer term.

Artist’s muse waits patiently for paint

On my walk through the neighborhood today I found a row of still life subjects waiting patiently for paint.

Old Door in Tbilisi

Door in Tbilisi

I think they have been waiting for a long time.

I pointed them out to the tall person and asked him why no one had painted these wonderful subjects. He shook his head sadly and agreed that they deserve some special attention. He said that seeing them reminded him of something that George Bernard Shaw once said: “Which painting in the National Gallery would I save if there was a fire? The one nearest the door of course”.

Hmm. A useful quotation tall person and one which clearly emphasizes the importance of doors in art.

It’s a whitewash!

The tall person told me that he had seen a painting of a Georgian tree. He knows I like art so he agreed to take me to see it. I must admit it was not what I had expected.

Painting of a Georgian Tree

I asked the tall person why the tree had been painted and he said that it was probably because the tree had strayed onto the road and the white paint would help drivers avoid it at night.

Hmm. Silly tree. It should have stayed on the sidewalk.
